AdultFriendFinder Acquires Bondage.com

SAN FRANCISCO — Various Inc. has added another coveted website to its list of Internet properties with the acquisition of San Francisco-based Bondage.com.

Various, which owns such sites as AdultFriendFinder and Passion.com, will marry the recently acquired Bondage.com with its Alt.com property to create a large online community for BDSM fans. However, the Bondage.com site will continue to operate as an independent entity.

Various co-owner Legendary Lars said the company plans to add a large amount of new content to Bondage.com in the coming months, with a significant increase in the total number of videos and photos for the member section.

Bondage.com gives Various access to a site with membership numbers in the millions and more than 500,000 personal ads at any one time. The site was founded in 1996 as a place for BDSM and fetish fans to view pictures, post personal ads and participate in chat rooms.

“Bondage.com is an exciting bondage and fetish website and we are proud to welcome it to our family of outstanding adult and alternative lifestyle destinations such as Alt.com and OutPersonals.com,” Lars said. “The BDSM community is growing steadily and we hope to be able to provide an even more compelling experience for its fans and those who are just interested in learning more about it.”

Various last year acquired Cams.com and Spring Street Networks.

“This deal continues the rapid growth through acquisition plan of Various Inc.,” Lars said. “We continue to look for websites that fit into our overall marketing and technology engine to maximize their profitability, while maintaining the integrity of the communities involved.”
